I don’t care how successfully you are in life. If you don’t love and value yourself, you will never be truly happy. Period. Just imagine this: you’re a college graduate, you own a successful business, you have everything you’ve ever prayed for… but you’re entertaining a man who don’t value or respect you. Girl. You’ve built a great life for yourself, but because you don’t value yourself enough to move on from someone disrespects you, you spend your days crying, sad, and moody instead of living your best life with people who actually love and support you. Make it make sense.

Here’s the thing nobody tells you: Self-love isn’t a bubble bath and a candle. It’s not a Sunday face mask and an affirmation you read off Pinterest and forgot by Monday. Self-love is the boring, unglamorous decision to keep choosing yourself even when it’s inconvenient, even when he’s fine, even when the sex is good, even when you’ve “invested three years” and you’re scared to start over. Baby, three years of a man not respecting you isn’t an investment, that’s a subscription you forgot to cancel. Cancel it.

And listen, I get it. Walking away from comfort is terrifying, even when that comfort is dressed up as chaos. We stay because we know the devil we’re dealing with. We stay because leaving means admitting we picked wrong, and our ego would rather suffer in silence than be “wrong” in public. But here’s some free advice: your ego is not your friend. Your ego will have you sitting in a Cheesecake Factory parking lot crying in a car with good credit. Don’t let it.
Real self-love shows up in the small, petty-sounding decisions, It’s blocking his number and not “just to see what he’s doing” unblocking it four days later. It’s saying “I’m busy” when a man who ignored you for two weeks suddenly wants to pull up. It’s looking in the mirror and asking yourself, “would I want my daughter, my little sister, my best friend dealing with this?” And if the answer is no, sis, why are YOU dealing with it? You are somebody’s example whether you asked to be or not.
At the end of the day, you can have the degree, the business, the bag, the body but if you don’t have YOU, standing firmly in your own corner, none of it will feel like enough. Self-love is deciding that your peace is not up for negotiation, not even for a man with good teeth and a bad attitude. So today, do yourself a favor: pour into you the way you’ve been pouring into people who wouldn’t spare you a cup of water in a desert. You deserve the love you keep giving away for free. Go get it.
